Happy Mother's Day

For my present this year I just wanted a trip to the beach with my family, to have fun with my kids and remember why I became a mommy. Sure there were a few moments where my children drove me a bit bonkers, but that is par for the course these days. But they both took a nice nap on the way out and I thoroughly enjoyed every peaceful minute!

I decided I wanted to go to Seaside because the weather was a bit dreary and drizzly wet, and it turns out the wind was quite whippy. In Seaside there are inside bumper cars and a tilt-a-whirl, and also a small arcade. It is perfect for those families with children but still want to be active. :-) We definitely went straight to the bumper cars. My oldest son, Josiah, and I rode those twice! We had such a fantastic time! I truly haven't had that much fun in waaaaayyyy too long. It was fun to play like a kid with my child. And likewise it was fun for him to see me let go, and just play almost as wild as he gets at times. :-) After going twice on the bumper cars we rode the tilt-a-whirl and got plenty dizzy!

I needed a break after that to rest and get my bearings... been a long time since this momma went on any kind of carnival type ride. We took a walk down to the beach. It was just misting at the time but the wind was cold. Josiah and I went on the swings that are on the beach and swang (is that a word?) for a long time. Well, until our fingers were too cold to grip the swing anymore and our booties were plenty wet and cold.

After swinging we went into the visitor center because they were doing free coffee and hot chocolate. Mmm, what's better than hot chocolate after getting cold and wet on the beach. :-) We all had a nice warm up and then walked down to the arcade. It was toasty in there. It really wasn't quite as crazy as I expected it to be. It was quite fun! I always enjoy playing Skee-ball. Although I don't get awesome scores, I do get a good amount of tickets. After playing our 3 dollars worth of quarters we traded in our tickets for dumb little prizes ( that really only entertain your children for about 5 minutes or so.... actually less time than it took them to actually earn the tickets). Then we went and got some fresh made corn dogs and an elephant ear before heading back home. The weather was not great and we didn't want to be gone for too long so we just came home. If the weather had been nicer, I would have been up for eating our picnic dinner on the beach but we said fooey with it and just came home. :-)

We really did have a good time and I am very glad we went. It was the perfect mothers day gift! And I am so truly thankful for my children and recognize them for the miracles that they are. I would not trade one of my bad days now for any of my good days before children. I am now in this chapter of my life and need to enjoy these moments while they last. All too soon, they will be older children who don't need my hugs as often, or want me to sing them lullabies to sleep, so for now I will be happy and thankful for my silly little boys!
Happy Mother's day to all.
