This summer has been filled with everything from fun to frustration. First I will fill you in on a little of the fun of the last few weeks.

We took Jacob to his first baseball game, it was Josiah's second game. It was the Portland Beavers, Portland's minor league team. We rode the max train downtown. Josiah had a great time until the 3rd inning and then he told me that there were too many people there and it was too hot and he wanted to go home. But we stuck it out to the last inning when it was clearly going to be lose for us, and we left.

Josiah has been riding his big boy bike with training wheels since last christmas when he got it from "Santa." Just recently he has been riding a lot more because he rides with the next door neighbor boy. Since he has been doing so well, and one of the wheels broke off due to the repeated slamming into curbs and such, we decided to take them off all together and let him go for it. So we told him he was a big boy now and he was going to ride his bike like mommy and daddy do. It took some convincing but once we finally got him on it, he took off like lightning. And he pretty much hasn't stopped since. He is wild and fast on that thing. I am pretty sure that he just knows one speed, super fast! Jonny and I believe that is because he is just trying to stay on. Needless to say he is a big boy now. Oh, and he is finally night-time potty trained as well. YAY!
He is also getting very excited about starting school at home coming September. We can't afford regular preschool right now, our budget is just too tight, so I decided to put together some curriculum that I have gathered from garage sales and some other workbooks that I have either bought or had around for quite some time. I did buy him some new crayons and colored pencils and washable markers and a new box to put them in at the store yesterday though. Kind of make a fresh start, and these will be just for school. So we will have school for one hour every morning and we will have 2 outings each week that are just for him. One will be story-time at the library and one other of his choice. I will give him 2 choices for the other, like the park or the zoo or some other fun activity (that gets him moving).
Well since dirt is so much a part of summertime fun, so is bath-time. Here is a really sweet picture of Jacob taking a bath in the sink. It's our new favorite place to bathe him since it's so much easier on the back to not lean over the bathtub.

Jacob's sleeping and eating schedule has completely went out the window the last couple weeks. I cannot figure out what happened to my great sleeper. I would get him down by 10 or 11pm at the latest and then he would be up once around 3 or 4pm and back down till 7 or 8am. Now he is waking every 2 hrs and it's starting to drive me a little insane! I need more sleep than that. I jsut can't function properly on such little sleep anymore. I really don't know how I managed to stay even slightly sane the first couple months. Oh yes I do... I had my sister to help, that's how. Well now that big J is not taking naps very often, I don't get my rest time that I need when the baby has terrible nights. And I started feeding him rice cereal a while back and he has been doing great on it. So I introduced banana's with it. He ate it twice and now he won't eat cereal or anything anymore. He just stopped wanting food at all about 4 days ago. I get him to take maybe 2 or 3 bites before he screams at me. Why is this? Why won't he eat his cereal anymore? Should I just give him a week and then try again? And what is up with the new sleeping schedule? Why won't he sleep good anymore? I know that he can sleep for longer periods too because the first night at the beach he slept for 7 or 8 hrs straight. So the question is why won't he sleep? And how do I peacefully get a routine back again?
Here is a picture I took of the 2 boys yesterday. There's no question that they are brothers.

And I leave you with the lovely sunset we had last night. I am hoping that this week I will be able to get us back into a routine. I hope that you all have a wonderful week as well.
Blessings to all.
