Jacob turns 2!

Good times!
He knew exactly what to do with that candle when presented to him!

We had a family party for Jacob on Sunday the 22nd. There were 19 people here! WOW, what a wonderful turn-out of some of the most important people in his life! He had such a good time and received lots of clothes and most importantly lots of new toys. I think his favorite of the day might have been the xylophone from Auntie Rachael, and Josiah's favorite was the Tonka remote control car from Grandma Marilyn. Although, all the toys were played with equally after everyone left and the boys were left to their own "devices."

2 yrs ago today my little miracle was born. He lived through so much while inside me that was truly a miracle! His birth meant so much to me personally, and so much happened within a short time after his birth, I am just so happy that he is the happy and healthy little guy that he is today! Do you all remember the "contest" we had regarding the day we all thought Jacob would be born? So funny! It's the little things that make me smile today. I hope you are all blessed and have a wonderful week!

The good, the salty, and the sweet! What else is needed for a party spread?
I decorated the train cake with ideas given by Jonny, it was fun!

I also looked back through months of Jacob's early life and we never wrote anything on our blogs about the "guess the day" contest all of my family did. Dawn and I guessed very early dates, and Dave and kids were only a couple weeks early. And Jonny specifically guessed Feb 22nd b/c it was his Aunt Doris' birthday, and Nancy guess Feb 23rd b/c she wanted to guess a date closer to my due date of Mar 1st. So she won that contest too, guessing the exact day he was born! Glad I wrote these things down in the baby book, since some of us obviously don't blog everything. lol :-) Dawn... do you remember the envelope of money we had on the refridgerator for months? We were so funny to actually bet on a day when we are sooooo not a betting family.

I thought it was guessing on the due date. Let me go back to my archives and look...

Okay, I've just spent the last 45 minutes looking in my archives and Jen's looking for anything about our contest. And I can't find anything. Jen??? Do you remember?

Oh my gosh! I totally forgot the envelope of money that was on the frig. That is so funny!
We gotta start betting on other things! Maybe Nancy will win more money. :-)

Jennifer's archives January 2007 ia where I won how big around she was. Does that I mean I won both things? I don't remember getting $10.

Okay, I went back and re-read her Jan 2007 archives. You are right. She did have a mini-contest for guessing how big around she was. That was in lieu of a baby shower (since we didn't know anyone in CA). But we still had the contest (just within our family) as to the due date. I remember collecting $1 from everyone (I'm thinking at Christmas time???) (everyone including my kids - Dad, Nancy, Rachael, Jonny, Dawn, Dave, Rebecca, Justin, Jennifer,... I don't know who the 10th person was???). So, anyway, when you and Dad came to visit us after Jennifer had Jacob, I took the envelope off the frig and gave it to you with the $10 in it. We had a calendar posted in the dining room (er... the kitchen eating area, not the *formal* dining room), and on it we had posted everyone's guess on when Jacob would be born.
Is that right, Jen?

xoxo

Yep, you are perfectly right Dawn. That is exactly how I remember it as well. (calendar and all!)
It's so funny the discussion that incurred from one small fun memory I had. :-) lol I have enjoyed everyone's memories as well.
