Growing up fast

My sweet little baby is nearly 5 months old, it's hard to believe. Sure, he has overcome many of his evening crying jags, but he still has fussy moments as any normal baby does. I decided that his interest in our dinnertime means that he is ready to try some food of his own. Last night, I finally gave in and fed him a small amount of rice cereal. Let me tell you... the little dude could not get enough. He opened his mouth and slurped every single bite down like he was starving or something. And if you have seen any recent pictures of him, you would see he is far from starving. :-) It was a joy to sit on our couch by my dear husband in our own home, and feed our newest baby his first meal. It was simply bliss.

Josiah is finally settling into our new home and getting into a routine. He is making friends with our neighbors. Luckily we settled into a neighborhood with tons of kids on our road, and just next door is a 7 yr old boy who loves basketball and playing with little kids, probably because he has a 3 yr old sister. And the 3 yr old boy across the street is quickly becoming a good friend of Josiah's as well. I am so glad that we moved in summertime so that Josiah is able to make friends more easily. He also is growing up so quickly. At a recent dr's appt we discovered he is in the 90th% on height. The dr told me that he will be a tall boy. Quite a wonderful surprise considering he was born a pre-mie at just 5.7 pounds.

One thing that has lifted my spirits recently is that the mom across the street and the mom to the side of us both came over to my front porch last night to just sit and chat. It was a joy for me to be the home where they felt comfortable to sit and talk about life and our kids. I have never had that experience before and it was pure joy for me. Now if I just had some iced tea or lemonade to offer it would have been nicer, but unfortunately with just having moved in, I don't have the luxury of having a fully stocked kitchen yet. :-) It's getting there though, just very slowly. Making friends is quite a mood lifter though.

Life is good here. My hope is that your life is sweet as well. Blessings to you all.

Woo Hoo! You have friends!
I know how important that has been to you. Seems like God knew what he was doing when He sent you to your new home. Now, go buy some Countrytime Lemonade mix and have some in the frig for the next time someone comes over. Oh, and cookies too!

love you
