July in pictures

While Jonny was working in Anchorage, Alaska the kids and I played the last 2 weeks. He had to go there to help out at the Hilti center because one of the guys that works there broke his back. Jonny is a very giving person and always wants to help a person out no matter how well he knows them. That's a good quality to possess. However, because he is always wanting to help out others in his job, that takes him away from home usually for a week but under these circumstances it meant 2 weeks away. He took some awesome scenery pictures there, and went salmon fishing (which he sent Fed-Ex home and filled our freezer with deliciously fresh fish), and ate out far more than we do in a year's time at home!
Here is my favorite photo he took while he was there. I believe this is the Kenai Lake.

Exit Glacier

And no good Alaska trip is without seeing a moose, here is a momma and 2 babies.

Right after Jonny left, the kids and I headed to our favorite retreat while Jonny goes on trips, to Lakeview to see my best friend Amy and her family on their "ranchette." They raise cattle for beef so I call it a ranch but I beleive she prefers ranchette since it's smaller than most ranches. :-) Lol Anyway, we went down there for 5 days.
Below is a picture I took on our way down of Frog Lake with Mt Hood in the distance.

Below is the picture I chose to sum up our trip to Amy's. It was filled with lots of silliness between the kids and playing in the yard and in the water. It was warm days filled with sunshine and smoke from all the California fires blowing north into their valley. We had a good time.
Hannah, Josiah and Jacob being goofballs

After we got home from Lakeview I decided to go berry picking while the "picking was still good" so to speak. I picked 14 lbs of marion, blue, and raspberries. Half of it was marionberries. 2 days later I canned 6 jars of berry jam, and made 7 jars of freezer jam. I also made a marvelous tasting berry crisp. It was totally awesome! I did manage to keep myself quite busy while hubby was away to keep my mind off being lonely. My folks came over dinner a couple times as well to keep me company and Rachael watched a movie with me one night as well. It's wonderful to have family so close!
This is where i finally spotted Josiah, sitting in the middle of the bush, shoving his mouth full of blueberries. :-) That's my boy. And yes, he shared plenty with Jacob. :-)

After jonny got home from Alaska, the next day was Nancy's birthday and she decided she wanted to go to the beach for the day. So we all packed up a picnic lunch and headed to Seaside for the day. It was super fun! We lounged on the blankets and let the kids run crazy and play in the sand to their heart's delight. It was a hazy, gray day on the beach with a light breeze, so it was a bit chilly but we couldn't keep Josiah's jacket on him. Jonny and Dad worked on keeping their kite's up in the air while us ladies watched them all.
I was exploring different settings on my camera and came up with this really funky picture. It was taken in black and white setting with highlighting green things. It makes the kids hair look a weird yellow/green color but everything else is really cool. Notice the shovel I caught in mid air. Josiah had tossed it over his head. :-) Enjoy!

Our family back together after 2 weeks of crazy fun and traveling.

Many blessings to you all. And thank you joining our summertime adventures.

What I love...

about my husband of 14 years!

He is a wonderful father who loves to get down on the floor and roll around with the boys and the dog. He's not afraid to get dirty in the mud. He shows the boys all kinds of bugs and teaches them not to be afraid of them. He can be silly with kids and I while at the same time showing us how much he cares for each of us.

He loves to be outdoors and do all the fun things it encompasses, including biking, fishing, hiking and camping. He loves the beach and exploring all aspects of the seashore and the life it contains.
And most of all he loves my cooking and eats it all, even when it is a little cajun!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband! I love him dearly! God bless him!
